Series VII, Cycle B
Call To Worship (Psalm 118:24)
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Collect
King Christ, ruler of our lives, we offer to you this day our loyalty, our hearts, all that we are and all that we own. Period. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession (based on 2 Samuel 23:3)
Reigning God, we pray for our leaders, and for ourselves for we have selected those leaders. May they rule in the fear of God. May they always recall that you are the source of all authority. May they take the side of the poor and destitute over the rich and powerful, those who have nothing to give over those who are their major contributors. The God of Israel is the rock of Israel. May we always give you praise first over currying favor with those who believe they are in power. These things we pray in the name of Christ the King! Amen.
Hymns

Gospel Lesson: John 18:33-37
Theme: You Say It, I Say It
Call To Worship
We say that Jesus is King. Let the rulers of the world say what they will. Jesus Christ is Lord and King, King of kings, Lord of lords. Forever.
Collect
No one puts the words in our mouths, Lord. We proclaim you King of king and Lord of lords! Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, your trusted apostle, Peter, said he would never abandon you, yet you stood alone before Pilate. You forgave him and sent him out to feed your sheep. We thought we would never abandon you as well, but in our lives and our lifestyles we have made it clear that sometimes we worship the world and not you. Forgive us, King of kings, and send us out yet again in your name. In your name we pray. Amen.
Hymns

Go To Dark Gethsemane
Low In The Grave He Lay
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
