A Call To Worship
Worship Aids, Lectionary Year B
Call To Worship (based on 2 Timothy 3:14-17)
Left: Let us continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom we learned it,
Right: and how from childhood we have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct us for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
Left: All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
Right: so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.
Left: Open our hearts to your word in our worship.
Right: Call us to study, contemplation, adoration, and praise.
Unison Invocation
Gracious Lord, we thank you for the gift of your Word, which is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our paths. Inspire us to seek your wisdom daily in our private and public reading of scripture that we may come to see you more clearly, love you more dearly, follow you more nearly. Amen.
Morning Prayer (Psalm 119:105-112)
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to observe your righteous ordinances.
I am severely afflicted; give me life, O LORD, according to your word.
Accept my offerings of praise, O LORD, and teach me your ordinances.
I hold my life in my hand continually, but I do not forget your law.
The wicked have laid a snare for me, but I do not stray from your precepts.
Your decrees are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.
I incline my heart to perform your statutes forever, to the end.
Amen.
Offering Prayer
What can we offer, Lord, in response to the blessings of your word, which is a treasure in our homes and in our fellowship? We offer today, with the gifts of our wealth, our time, our energy, our love, and our concern for each other, the gift of our intent to open your book and to study its pages. Accept this offering today. Amen.
