Call To Worship
Like dry tinder, we wait for God's spark. O, God's people, pray and prepare for renewal.
Collect
You are the potter, God of craft and design. We are the clay. Mold us into your people as we prepare for the coming of the king. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession (based on Isaiah 64:6)
We confess, our Father, that we have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy cloth. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. Call to mind that we are your people. Reach out for us, and ground us in your love. Amen.
Hymns
Here In This Place
Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence
Go Now In Peace
First Sunday Of Advent

Yours is the mystery, God of love. We are partakers who choose your grace. Blest be your ties that bind us. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession (Psalm 80:4 and 3)

O Lord God of hosts, how long will you be angry with your people's prayers?

Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved. Amen.

Call To Worship
Jesus said that no one knows the hour of his coming. Now we might say that no one cares. Urgently, let us hear the call to worship him who will one day be revealed in glory and majesty!
Collect (based on Psalm 80:1-2)
One:
Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock! You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth.
All:
Stir up your might, and come to save us! Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Master of history, Lord of time, we nod our heads when others speak of your return as if we were ready. We praise your love which has granted us at least this chance today to confess our sins and receive your forgiveness. Maran Atha -- Come, Lord Jesus, come soon. Amen.
Hymns
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
Comfort, Comfort, O My People
The Virgin Mary Had A Baby Boy
