Weddings Can Be Beautiful

Wedding Sermons And Marriage Ceremonies
The Christian envisions marriage as a God--given direction for life. Before a marriage takes place counseling is given by the minister to assist in molding, guiding, and supporting the couple in their new venture together.
Preparation of the ceremony becomes the final stage of the process. The following ceremonies are designed to provide models for the minister to choose from or to assist in creating new ones.
Some guidelines for deciding on ceremonies include:
1. Allow creative planning for the ritual.
2. Ask the couple for input.
3. Incorporate as many family and friends as possible throughout the ceremony.
4. Ask the couple for a favorite poem, scripture, or song to make the moments meaningful.
5. Request that the couple write part of their own vows.
6. Keep personal control of the rehearsal and wedding day events.
7. Make this a spiritual event in the lives of the couple and the congregation gathered to celebrate this happy occasion.
8. Stay relaxed even if some unforeseen circumstance happens. If you panic, so will the couple, and this could ruin a wonderful experience.
9. Review the ceremony before you enter the sanctuary. It will refresh your memory.
10. Above all, remember that God wants to bless this important wedding day with His presence. Don't fail to ask Him to attend!
The wedding ceremony can be a beautiful and spiritual experience!

Weddings Are Celebrations
Weddings are a wonderful opportunity for couples to see how much God is involved in the love they share. Many couples who come to be married have had only a passing connection with the church. They aren't sure what faith in Jesus Christ has to do with their marriage. Rather than refusing to marry them because of their limited understanding or experience of faith in Christ, this can be a window of opportunity for a pastor. The couple can be commended for their desire to make a lasting commitment to each other before God and their families and friends. Then they can be invited in the time of counseling to explore their faith more intentionally, individually and as a couple.
These wedding sermons are a celebration of the love which brings couples together in the bond of marriage. They are also a celebration and a witness to the love of God in Christ which upholds us all.
