One excuse for the sale of alcoholic beverages is that those who produce the drinks pay taxes. It is not so! The consumer pays. He may also pay sales tax on it. The beer and liquor producers pass on the taxes they may have to the price they charge for the product.
Just think of the positive benefits that could result if the money spent for alcoholic beverages was used to purchase food, clothing, and the necessities of life. Some people cannot afford both.
