God of women and men and children, when you created us all in your own image you surely didn't intend to set up stereotypes. But in the early days of humanity, a clear division of labour worked to the advantage of all and kept society functioning. Loving God, it's difficult for us human beings to change, to give up something which has been part of our existence for thouysands of generations. Help us all to look to you, to see how you treated men and women when you were on earth, and how you regarded everyone not as a stereotype, but as a complete person in their own right. And then, dear God, help us to do likewise.

God of Creation, sometimes it's easier for your Church to rely on tradition, on that which has always been, rather than make the effort to get up and change. And sometimes individual church members feel too small and too unimportant to be able to effect change. Help all your Church to listen for your voice, that we may know when to change and when to remain faithful to tradition. Today with the world-wide church we pray especially for your Church in Central America, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lithuania, praying especially that they may have the necessary resources for the programmes they feel you are calling them to use.

God of justice, in an unjust world many good people keep their heads down rather than risk blowing any whistles or rocking any boats. Yet Jesus said, "Little girl, get up!" May all those living and working in unjust conditions find the courage to stand up and be counted, so that your world may become a better and safer place for all.

God of compassion, sometimes it feels good to be a little girl or a little boy again. Yet relationships which work best are adult relationships, in which both parties are equal. Help us to work at our relationships with families and friends, so that we may reject those relationships which deny us our full potential even though it may be easier to accept them, and instead enjoy the best and fullest life you have to offer us, even though we may find pain.
God of compassion, help us to work at our relationships with families and friends, so that we may enjoy the best and fullest life you have to offer us.
God of the future, we bring into your presence those of our friends and families who are sick, especially those who are sick because their life is very stressful and makes unreasonable demands on them. Lay your healing hands upon them ...... We name them in our own hearts...
