The admonition to entertain strangers...
Illustration
The admonition to "entertain strangers for by so doing one may be entertaining angels" has been the fodder for many wonderful stories. One such is Oscar Wilde's "The Model Millionaire." It is the story of Hughie Erskine, a poor young man who was in love with Laura, the daughter of a colonel. Because Hughie was poor, the colonel refused to let the young lovers marry. The colonel joked that when Hughie came to him with $10,000, he could marry Laura.
