History was never one of my strong points in school. I guess I didn't see the immediate relevance and thus dismissed it as being of little consequence ... until my wife and I started raising our children. Then I saw my kids starting to make some of the same mistakes I'd made when I was their age. History did not need to repeat itself if they would just listen to me! Sometimes they did and sometimes they did not. And when they did not listen, I knew pretty much how things would turn out ... but there was little I could do.
