The jar left behind
Commentary
I was reading the work of a well-known biblical critic who said, "Adequate water sources were crucial to migrant desert dwellers." Like it isn't for the rest of us?
Most of us do not have to search for oases, draw water by hand, or carry jugs back and forth. I still remember the television theme song of my hometown water company (although why a public monopoly needed commercials is beyond me):
Turn it on, and we'll come running.
Turn it on, and we'll be there.
Clean and bright, day and night,
Indianapolis water comes running!
