Many evangelism and church growth organizations have conducted an assortment of surveys. Most of these surveys are designed to assist in the development of more effective techniques for spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. As an ingredient of many of those studies and surveys, an attempt is made to discover why so many people attend church services but neglect to take the next step of becoming an active member of the congregation. The main reason given in survey after survey is this: They were never asked.
