My father, Henry Hahn, was a very small man, only 4 feet, 6 1/2 inches tall. Ever since
the third grade I have been taller than he was. But he was fully a man and was not limited
in what he could do. He did all the work that an above-average-height farmer could do.
Harnessing a large horse is a job for a full-sized person. One of his tricks was to put the
collar on upside down, so the strap at the top could be fastened even when he couldn't
reach that far. Then he would swing the collar around.
