In the spring, Debbie began experiencing dizziness and found it difficult to maintain her balance. It could have been fatigue, for in addition to being a housewife, she was also employed, attended college, taught a church school class, and was extremely involved in affairs of the church.

Doctors suspected that her condition was due to something more than fatigue, so they proceeded with examinations to determine if she was suffering from an inner-ear disorder. It became quickly apparent that the problem was more serious. Debbie had a brain tumor. She was twenty-seven.
