Christmas 2
Lord God, we often find ourselves only looking
at the surface of life.
We do not take the time or make the effort
to look deeper.
Probing deeper into life may also mean taking
a closer look at ourselves. Are we afraid of what
we will discover there?
We grow accustomed to superficiality.
We take comfort there.
We feel secure.
Sometimes we act as if we prefer the darkness of
self-deception rather than the light of truth.
When we wander into superficiality and stray from
the truth, bring us back to your word of life.
Help us to see Jesus Christ as your living word
who has become our flesh and blood.
Free us from our self-imposed distractions and
open our hearts to receive the life which you
have provided for us.
In the name of Jesus Christ,
we pray.
Amen.
