Proclaiming the incredible
Prayer
Contemporary Lectionary Prayers
Cycle B
Gospel Note:
The point of the story for Mark appears not to be to signal
Messiahship or an inbreaking Kingdom, but to underscore the
astonishment of the disciples, who still do not understand their
master's person or powers, yet cannot help proclaiming him.
Liturgical Color:
Green
Suggested Hymns:
O Son Of God, In Galilee
Look From Your Sphere Of Endless Day
We Give Thee But Thine Own
God, My Faithful God
O Christ, Our Light, O Radiance True
Son Of God, Eternal Savior
Proper 18 ù Pentecost 16 ù OT 23
Lord God,
we are gathered in your presence today because
you are our life.
We seek the warmth of your forgiving love.
We trust your Holy Spirit to keep us focused upon
things which truly matter.
We seek help to let go of those things which
shift our attention away from you.
Help us to make your will for our lives our
highest priority.
Open our ears to hear your word.
Release our tongues to share your word of hope
with others.
Guide our speech and our deeds so that they
plainly reveal your power at work in us.
Amen.
