Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle C
First Lesson: Hosea 1:2-10
Theme: Children Of The Living God
Call To Worship
Leader: Lord, you have been merciful to our land.
People: You have forgiven our sins and pardoned all our wrongs.
Leader: Show us your constant love, O Lord,
People: and give us your saving help.
Leader: Surely the Lord is ready to save those who honor him,
People: and his saving presence will remain in our land.
Collect
O God, we come before you with joy, for we know that you are ever present with us and your love knows no bounds. We bow in contrition before you because we are keenly aware that we have not always loved and served you as we ought. We pray with thankful hearts because of all your blessings, and our lips sing your praises for the new life you have given us in Jesus Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, as we worship may we hear you calling us to a new beginning. Remind us that the world is not ours to conquer, but yours for us to serve. Help us to understand that we are not to retreat from the world, but that we are to go into it filled with your compassion. As we dedicate ourselves anew to you, make clear to us that dedication is meaningless if it does not lead us into paths of service. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Lord, as we present these offerings, we renew our commitment to serve you as your body in the world bringing new life to those in need. Bless our efforts on behalf of your kingdom, we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee"
"Children Of The Heavenly Father"
"O God In Heaven"

Second Lesson: Colossians 2:6-15 (16-19)
Theme: Fullness Of Life In Christ
Call To Worship
Leader: Let us thank the Lord for his steadfast love.
People: The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made.
Leader: Blessed be the Lord our God for his wonderful works!
People: Blessed be his glorious name forever; may his glory fill the whole earth!
Collect
Lord, we would build our lives in you and become stronger in our faith. We have gathered in your house that we may be more aware of your presence. During this worship we strive to clear our minds of all our worldly concerns and concentrate on listening for your word. Speak to us, we pray, that knowing your will for us and striving to carry it forward, we may find that fullness of life in Jesus Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, when we go back to our daily tasks in the world, we are often tempted to live as though we belonged to the world. We play by their rules and listen to their advice. Forgive us, Lord, and keep us loyal to your kingdom that we may find fullness of life in Jesus Christ alone. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
O God, you gave us your Son, Jesus Christ, that the world might be saved through him. We number ourselves as part of those you have brought into the fellowship of your kingdom, and we present these gifts that others may be led to accept Christ as their Savior. Amen.
Hymns
"All Praise To Thee, For Thou, O King Divine"
"O For A Heart To Praise My God"
"All Praise To Our Redeeming Lord"

Gospel Lesson: Luke 11:1-13
Theme: Jesus' Teaching On Prayer
Call To Worship
The disciples said to Jesus, "Lord, teach us to pray."ÊLet that be our plea as we come to worship God the Almighty, made known to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Come, let us worship!
Collect
Heavenly Father, we give you thanks and praise that your door is always open to us who come asking and seeking, as we draw near to you in prayer. We are not always sure, however, about how we should pray, and so we come this morning asking that you teach us to pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, you know how impatient we are. We knock at your door in our prayers of supplication, and, not hearing an answer, we presume you are not at home to us and we walk away. Forgive our hastiness, we pray, and teach us to listen more carefully that we may truly hear and understand your response. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Lord, we know that there are multitudes who do not have their daily bread. There are also untold numbers who do not have the Bread of Life. Use these gifts and us, we pray, to help meet the needs of these people in your name. Amen.
Hymns
"Sweet Hour Of Prayer"
"Take Time To Be Holy"
"This Is My Song"
