Call To Worship
1 Samuel 2:1-10
Leader:
My heart rejoices in the Lord;
People:
In the Lord I am strong.
Leader:
There is no one holy like the Lord;
People:
There is no rock like our God.
Leader:
The bows of the warriors are broken,
People:
But those who stumbled are armed with strength.
Leader:
Those who were full hire themselves out for food,
People:
But those who were hungry hunger no more.
Leader:
She who was barren has borne seven children,
People:
But she who has had many sons pines away.
Leader:
The Lord has power over life and death,
People:
The Lord reigns over poverty and wealth;
Leader:
He raises the poor from the dust
People:
And lifts the needy from the ash heap;
Leader:
Those who oppose the Lord will be crushed,
People:
And the Lord will reign forever. Amen.
God fulfills his promises.
Leader:
Ask and it will be given.
People:
Seek and you will find.
Leader:
Knock and it will be opened to you.
People:
This is what our God promises us.
Leader:
Let us worship the God of promise.
People:

A time for planting,

And a time for uprooting,

And a time to laugh,

And a time to dance,

A time to embrace,

And a time to refrain,

Prayer Of Confession
General confession.
Leader:
Father, we confess our desperate need to trust you.
People:
For things are out of our control;
Leader:
Our health is an annoyance;
People:
Our finances are precarious;
Leader:
Our futures are unclear;
People:
People have slandered us
Leader:
And our reputation has been soiled.
People:
We find ourselves doubting you
Leader:
And wondering if you have abandoned us.
People:
Hear our cries for help,
Leader:
Our anxious pleas for peace.
People:
Fend off our great enemy
Leader:
Who seeks our downfall.
People:
That we might stand
Leader:
In the high and holy ground
People:
Of your presence.
Leader:
For we seek it in the name of our Lord
People:
Jesus the Christ. Amen!

Set free, but still we live as slaves,
People:
Allowing sin to shackle us,
Leader:
Communicating to the world that our faith changes nothing.
People:
Lord, forgive us for continuing to give ourselves to sin.
Leader:
Strengthen us,
People:
Empower us,
Leader:
To resist the evil one,
People:
To turn away from sin,
Leader:
To live in freedom,
People:
That the world might know
Leader:
That you are a God who heals the broken,
People:
Empowers the weak,
Leader:
Sets free the enslaved,
People:
And resurrects the dead.
Leader:
We ask in the name of Jesus Christ.
People:
Amen.
Assurance Of Pardon
A general Assurance Of Pardon.
Leader:
At times like these, remember only this: Jesus said,
People:
"Never will I abandon or forsake you.
Leader:
Always will I be at your side."
People:
Praise the Lord.
Leader:
For the Lord is faithful.
People:
Praise the Lord.
Hebrews 10:16-18
"This is the covenant that I will make with them after that time," says the Lord. "I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds." Then he adds: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more." And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin. This is the true and faithful Word of the Lord. Amen.
Prayer Of Dedication
God who hears the desires of our hearts, may we take our example from Hannah this morning as we bring our offerings to you. You were faithful in your promise in giving her the son she prayed for. Likewise she demonstrated her faithfulness in dedicating her son to your service. "So now," said Hannah, "I give my son to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord." In gratitude for all that you are and all that you've given to us and in declaration of our trust in you, we dedicate our gifts and our lives to you. Lord, may they be used for your service. Amen.
Prayer For Illumination
God unsearchable, we pray not for information or inspiration, but simply to know you more. Increase the capacity of our hearts to receive you. Amen.
Pastoral Prayer
Holy God, we have no confidence to enter into your presence on our own accord. It is only through the shed blood and broken body of Christ that a new and living way has been opened for us.
It is only in his name and by his work as our great high priest, we humbly draw near. Hear now the prayers we offer before you with sincere hearts, in full assurance that you are faithful to answer. Thank you, Jesus, for the confidence you give us to enter into the loving presence of our Father. Amen.

Hebrews 10:22-25 (The Message)
So friends, let us keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. God always keeps his word. Let's see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the day approaching.
