Pastoral Prayers For All Seasons
Now, dear God, we enter the fall of the year. It's the beginning of a new school term. It's the return of Congress to Washington. It's the time for cool brisk air, football, changing leaves, last minute cookouts, and harvesting.
It's also the time for the same old "stuff." Some things remain oblivious to the calendar. Drugs continue to be sold on our streets. Prejudice continues to dominate our emotions and our wills. We still use war to achieve peace. Many of our brothers and sisters still can't read, can't work, can't sleep inside, can't eat one warm meal a day.
