God Of Humility...
Intercession

Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer

Lord, graciously hear us.
God of humility, you accepted even the ultimate humiliation of a degrading death under a curse without resentment or complaint. Yet I can't accept even a little hurt pride without desiring to get my own back. God of humility, help me to face my own arrogance and to receive without complaint any humiliation necessary to teach me humility. And Lord, save me from the further indignity of priding myself on false humility, that I may see myself with clear eyes.
God of humility, sometimes your Church is arrogant in its love of pomp and circumstance, which generally excludes the poor and the disadvantaged. May your Church discover true humility, and receive without complaint any pain necessary to learn true humility. May your Church treat all comers as angels, so that all are loved and welcome within your body. And may your Church never forget that angels often visit in disguise.
We pray today especially for the Church of Brazil, with Archbishop Glauco Doares de Lima, and Borg in the Church of Norway, with Ole Kvarme.
God of humility, national pride can be both a wonderful and a treacherous characteristic. May the leaders of the nations promote that national pride which leads to great discoveries and great inventions and keeps nations great. But may the leaders of the nations denounce that national pride which leads to hatred and bigotry and violence.
We pray today especially for all nations with a long history of nationalism and violence, asking that the people may develop the gift of forgiveness towards their enemies.
God of humility, children thrive on encouragement and praise but suffer under constant disparagement and humiliation. May all parents discern the best ways of disciplining their children and the right time to use that discipline. And may our nation's children grow up to be so self-fulfilled and confident that they are able to practise true humility. May they know when they walk with the angels, and may their guardian angels take care of them today.
We pray today especially for all children who are growing up with stunted personalities because of the way they are treated by their parents, and for all parents who have no idea how to treat their children.
God of humility, we humans have developed great medical knowledge but we don't know it all. In humility we ask for your help for our medical personnel as they ceaselessly work to heal the sick. And we hold in your presence for your healing touch those of our friends and families who are sick, as we name them before you ....
God of humility, some of our friends and families are truly walking with the angels, for they have recently died. We hold them in your gentle presence, knowing you are pouring your love and your care into them. We pray too for those they have left behind them, that grieving friends and relatives may also be aware of your love and care filling the centre of their own being. we name them before you .... and those who suffered loss in previous years at this time ...
We ask all this through Jesus Christ, master of true humility.
Merciful Father,
